Usage and performance


Tertiary carboxylic acid is a ashless water-soluble rust inhibitor used in all types of water-based lubricants and cleaning systems. It is used in semi synthetic and fully synthetic metalworking fluids at 0.25-1.1%, engine antifreeze (coolant) at 0.5%, and water ethylene glycol refractory liquid at 0.055-1.4%. Adjust the pH value above 8 with 99% triethanolamine, and appropriate heating can accelerate dissolution.


Tri carboxylic acid water-soluble rust inhibitor is suitable for various types of water-based lubricants and processing fluids, complete or semi-finished engine coolant, biodegradable water-based hydraulic oil, etc. The recommended dosage of additives is generally 0.2-1.5%. After neutralization with alkanolamine or sodium hydroxide, it can be used as a metal corrosion inhibitor additive in semi synthetic cutting fluids, fully synthetic grinding fluids, water-based quenching fluids, water-based cleaning agents, automotive antifreeze, rust prevention water, and other water-based products.

Application of C21 Ternary Acid and Its Derivatives


C21 ternary acids have chemical properties with multiple functional groups. In addition to these three carboxyl groups, the double bonds on the carbon ring and carbon atoms can also undergo reactions. Ternary acids are a low volatility viscous liquid at room temperature. Soluble in various organic solvents such as ethanol, ether, acetone, etc., insoluble in water. Ternary acids and their derivatives are widely used in coatings, inks, lubricants, household heavy-duty detergents, and fabric softeners.


Each carboxyl group of C21 ternary acid can react with other functional groups, but the reaction ability of each carboxyl group is different. Prepare ternary acid metal soap by reacting potassium, sodium, and lithium with hydroxide. The most significant feature of this soap is its solubilization, which can increase the solubility of non-ionic surfactants in aqueous solutions containing additives. Based on this characteristic, it has become a good raw material for liquid detergents, tableware detergents, and other soap detergents. C22 ternary acid alkaline earth metal soap, such as zinc, calcium, lead, etc., is not suitable for water. They have similar properties to stearic acid metal soaps and can be used as PVC heat stabilizers. Due to the three carboxyl groups of C22 ternary acid, which can carry more metal ions than stearic acid, it has better thermal stability when added to PVC. C22 tricarboxylic acid reacts with various alcohols such as methanol, butanol, isopropanol, long-chain fatty alcohols, and ethylene glycol under strong acid catalysts to generate various esters, which can be used as lubricant additives, corrosion inhibitors, PVC plasticizers, and textile auxiliaries. By condensation of C22 tricarboxylic acid (or its methyl ester) with ethanolamine, diethanolamine, or isopropanolamine in the presence of sodium alcohol (or strong base) catalyst, various nonionic surfactants of alkanolamide can be prepared, which are equivalent to lauric acid myristic acid alkanolamide nonionic surfactants. C22 ternary acids or their methyl esters can also react with ethylenediamine or polyamines to produce active and inactive polyamide resins for coatings, inks, and adhesives.
